FAQ

PLACING AN ORDER

Please place your order using our convenient, easy-to-use website.

Our Fudge Factory team operates like a well-oiled machine, and part of our success in fulfilling orders quickly and efficiently is because we decided not to place or accept phone orders or post our phone number online.

Customer requests to call them back are not possible. Our handy Contact form is the easy, fast way to reach us and provides a “paper” trail of  customer communications.

Our website is the only place to place an order online — it’s simple, easy-to-use, and allows our wonderful customers to handle every aspect of the order they want and provide notes about their order if they choose.

Additionally, placing or accepting orders by phone is time-consuming. It requires our team to stop creating our sweet treats or fulfilling orders and write down customer information, including sensitive credit card data, which is open to human error and can jeopardize customer information safety.

SHIPPING QUESTIONS

First, after receiving an online order, it must be fulfilled, packaged, and shipped (usually 2-3 business days). Then, it’s ready for shipping.

Estimated shipping timeframes are based on the USPS shipping option you choose:

  1. USPS Priority Mail: estimates a 3-5 business day* delivery window, and in rare cases up to 8 business days to reach their destination
  2. USPS Priority Mail Express: estimates a 2-3 business day* delivery window, and in rare cases up to 5 business days to reach their destination

We’ll email you a tracking number link as soon as your order has shipped out.

Provincetown Fudge Factory does not provide delivery estimates or guarantee USPS estimated delivery dates. Late deliveries aren’t refunded or replaced.

*Orders are fulfilled and shipped Mondays thru Wednesdays, to facilitate Monday thru Saturday deliveries by USPS.

Our standard shipping option is through USPS, making the delivery within 3-6 days. The fudge itself won’t melt in hot weather because we adjust the cooking temperature according to the season, to compensate for the hot weather. The worst that could happen is that it will get a bit soft, but will come back to the regular consistency once back at the room temperature.

Chocolates, however, are more prone to melting. We use Styrofoam packaging to insulate the chocolates within the box for the smaller orders and include an ice-pack in the larger ones. Even so, we recommend choosing our USPS Priority Mail Express 2-3-day shipping at the checkout to prevent the melting. Please, have someone bring the chocolates inside soon upon delivery.

Sorry, we are not able to provide local pick up at this time.

FUDGE & CHOCOLATE CARE

Our fudge’s shelf-life at room temperature is about one month but can last even longer with proper, tight wrapping. It is best kept in an air-tight wrapping, such as saran wrap. Left out in open air, it will stay fresh for about a week or two and dry out afterward. Even then, sometimes only the fudge edges harden, and the fudge interior may still be fresh.

Refrigerating fudge can extend its shelf life to two to three weeks. Freezing fudge will extend its shelf life to around three months, if tightly sealed.

Fudge should always be stored in an airtight container, to seal out excess moisture. Sealing the fudge will also protect it from the drying effects of air, as well as potential contaminants. Fudge stored at room temperature should be kept away from light or heat, to prevent rapid spoilage.

When refrigerating fudge, it’s still important to seal the fudge in an airtight container. This will not only help to keep the moisture level steady, but will also prevent other flavors from being absorbed by the fudge. Wrapping the fudge in wax paper before refrigerating it can help to regulate the moisture level.

To store fudge in the freezer, it’s best wrapped tightly in wax paper and then plastic wrap before being placed in a sealable container. If possible, fudge should be frozen in as large a block as possible, as it can dry out more easily when cut into smaller pieces.

Fudge freezes quite well, though the texture and flavor of the fudge may change slightly after freezing. Frozen fudge should be thawed overnight in the refrigerator, not at room temperature.

Once the fudge thaws, it should be consumed within a week and should not be refrozen, but should be stored in the refrigerator.

Our chocolates are a bit more resistant than our fudge and will stay fresh for longer periods of time than fudge (over 1 month at room temperature). However, if there is nuts, Oreos or other ingredients specific to the flavor you order, they might go bad or stale faster than the chocolate itself. It’s always best to keep the chocolate in an airtight wrapping if it won’t be consumed within a week.

No. Refrigeration will dehydrate chocolate. It will also cause rapid temperature changes that will affect its appearance and quality. Always keep the chocolate in a cool and dry place.

PRODUCT QUESTIONS

During peak season we make our fudge daily, and off-season a couple times a week which is also true for most of our chocolate treats. In almost every case, we’ll have the “Out of Stock” items back in stock within a week, seasonal products being the exception.

We have a wide selection of nut-free treats but please keep in mind that all of our fudge, chocolate and candy are made in a facility that processes nuts and nut byproducts.

At their core, our fudge and chocolate treats are gluten free, but they are handled in a facilitythat also processestreats that include pretzels, and/or cookies (e.g. Oreos) which do contain gluten. It’s best to assume that all of ourchocolate, fudge and candy products may contain traces of gluten.

Sorry, no. All of our fudge and chocolate products contain dairy and our gummi products contain gelatin.

No, we’re old school when it comes to our confections — all of our chocolates have cow milk in them.
